A passionate person, a lifelong learner, a spiritual adventurer, a South African Asian-Indian from a small town near the Durban coast. Her introduction to yoga was in South Africa – ISHTA studio of Yoga & Health in Sandton, Johannesburg. Where she practiced for nearly a decade before immigrating to the United States. "ISHTA to me is a yoga for the yogi bringing one closer to your authentic self - to live life through a meditative flow" She merges her South African heritage, and Asian heritage with ISHTA and Sufism-Rumi yoga philosophy to design a platform for self-development and healing through "Meditation as a Practice" called - MAAP Life™️
She is experienced and passionate about holistic methods of wellness and accomplishing well-being through a variety of mind-body practices, including complementary alternative medicines (CAM). Her love for yoga expanded during her pregnancy, where more meditative asanas, an energy approaches to remedies became apparent to her. Her childhood offered a variety of knowledge from her paternal asian elders, and families both ancient Ayurvedic cooking, Indian-Durban home cooking and a variety of alternative herbal, and chinese medicine alternatives for disease prevention, management and nurturing self-care.
In her class, expect a nurturing meditative, encouraging, and inviting practice, with relatively challenging asana/poses to deepen the level of practice combining Ashtanga Vinyasa, an ISHTA styles. An experience through sound, only vibration-instrumental music, to allow one or more intentions to deepen the practice. With each movement, bringing in the awareness of chakras, bandhas, and moon phases to unite the energies of our universe. An intuitively encouraging flow from each breath through each pose. Ending in a guided meditation to deepen the connection to self; enhancing opportunity towards deeper love, peace, harmony for one and others. Being one with 'self' to open a deeper free flowing yogic experience towards self-reflection (svadhyaya), self-awareness and self-healing.
